About Us

What we stand for...

Hello. We’re Nicole, Kate & Chantelle. We’re here to help you nurture your child in a way that’s right for you.

As mums we’ve been through the transition to parenthood ourselves, so we know firsthand just how hard it can be.

As trained health professionals we’ve worked with hundreds of parents from all walks of life, so we know how the  right support can create a happy, healthy, thriving family.

We are so passionate about empowering parents to believe in themselves.

We’ll guide you through this challenging, but rewarding, time with support that’s as personal and unique as you and your family.

We’ll be there to answer your questions before your baby is born and we’ll be there to listen and advise after baby arrives.

We’ll share information and tools to help you get the most out of parenthood and boost the wellbeing of your whole family.

Nicole Scurr is a registered child health nurse, IBCLC, first aid and circle of security parenting program trainer at The Parenting Place North Brisbane

Nicole Scurr

I’m a Registered Child Health Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, with experience in Community Child Health, Lactation/ breastfeeding, Paediatric Emergency and Cardiac Nursing , First Aid, Circle of Security Parenting Program and Triple P (Positive Parenting) education.

I’m passionate about empowering you, as a parent, with knowledge and practical support to help you navigate life with a new baby. As a mother of three children I know the challenges that can present when you become a parent. My experience as a mother coupled with my background as a health professional enables me to provide holistic support with evidence based advice to help you on your journey.
My experience and qualifications in working with sick children in the past means I’m confident in assessing your baby to ensure there is nothing impacting your baby that may require a referral to another health professional. I look forward to helping you normalise infant behaviour and support you with sleep and settling techniques, breastfeeding, growth and development and your emotional health.

Chantelle Forsyth is a registered paediatric emergency nurse, infant and baby first aid and CPR trainer The Parenting Place North Brisbane

Chantelle Forsyth

I’m a Registered Paediatric Emergency Nurse, with experience in working with all ranges of children from zero to fifteen years.

I am very passionate about education, and as a parent myself, I am aware of how important it is to have knowledge surrounding first aid to help your children when you least expect it. As a mother of three beautiful, but cheeky, children I know the challenges that can present ranging from breastfeeding in those few months, dealing with your first respiratory illness, introducing solids and lets not forget that first tantrum…..mmmm what do you then?

I have extensive experience working with sick children and training people in assessing their child. I have also been involved in developing statewide guidelines for the management of unwell children and I am always up to date with the best evidence relating to this field. I look forward to working with you, your child and family to ensure you feel confident in your parenting role.

Kate Maynard is a registered nurse, paediatric intensive care, registered midwife, IBCLC The Parenting Place North Brisbane

Kate Maynard

I’m a Registered Nurse with experience in Paediatric Intensive Care, a Registered Midwife and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Like Nicole and Chantelle, I am also a mother of three children, and I draw on my own personal and professional experience to provide practical and evidence based support for new parents who wish to breastfeed their babies.

My paediatric and midwifery background enable me to thoroughly assess mums and babies I meet. Here at The Parenting Place, we are fortunate to have a network of health practitioners who we can, when required, refer to.

I understand the pressure that some women feel to ‘succeed’ at breastfeeding and I bring to my practice a very open minded and flexible approach. I strongly believe that every parent has the right to be informed and define their own success with their baby. This is an empowering experience for parents. Whether we meet during your pregnancy, or after baby arrives, I would cherish the opportunity to support you through your breastfeeding journey and all that comes with it!
